Sara Hunter LMHC – Therapist
Sara comes to Greenbrier with a life-long dedication to experiential education and family counseling.  Sara earned B.A. degrees in Communications and Therapeutic Recreation from Davis & Elkins College and her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe NM. Sara has received specialized training in psychosomatic, grief and loss, eco-psychology and transpersonal counseling. She presented to the National American Art Therapy Association conference on the subject of grief and loss.

Before coming to Greenbrier Academy, Sara worked as a counselor for a wilderness program for two years. After her stint “in the woods”, she was employed by the Hyde School, where she attended high school, as the Assistant Dean of Students.

What drew Sara to Greenbrier Academy is the opportunity to honor each young woman’s potential, journey and uniqueness. “This is truly a wonderful experience for me. The community atmosphere and authentic relationships that are generated in this setting inspire me daily.“

With Sara’s free time she engages the outdoors; trail running, alpine skiing, white water rafting and finds these activities most rewarding when she is accompanied with good friends and family. Her best counsel is to remember to laugh on a daily basis.
