Paul Fowler – Residential Coordinator
With
the exception of a few years in Ohio and Virginia, Paul spent his childhood
years in small towns near Spruce Knob, West Virginia. After high school,
Paul served our country with eight years in the U.S. Army, being first
trained as a Combat Medic and then as an M1A2 Main Battle Tank Crewman. In
his post-military career Paul worked as a law-enforcement officer in
Pushmataha County, Oklahoma and then became involved in therapeutic
education. For the past seven years Paul had been employed by one of the
longest standing wilderness programs in the United States. Paul truly found
a place he loved, first starting as a Mentor, then a Counselor and finally
as an Expedition Coordinator.
As our Residential Coordinator, Paul works closely with the Director of Student Life in carrying out Greenbrier's busy weekend schedule. His past wilderness experience lends itself well to impromptu therapeutic groups, and his training in falconry adds to the weekend activities. As our Licensed Falconer, Paul oversees all activities with our hawk - from daily feeding to training and handling procedures, allowing students to experience all aspects of care. Paul admits to being a bit protective of Loki, but luckily he shares well.
Paul is married and has four children. He, his wife Kimberly and their two youngest children live along the Greenbrier River. Paul and Kim will celebrate their sixteenth wedding anniversary this fall.
