Staff Biographies

Elizabeth (Liz) Gordon– NCC, M.S., Community Counseling,
provisionally licensed counselor

Liz brings 25 years of clinical experience to Greenbrier. With her Master’s degree in clinical psychology Liz has specialized in child and adolescent psychotherapy, from attachment and bonding to juvenile justice. She holds a special affinity for her work with troubled teens . Liz’s unwavering mission has been to help adolescents navigate the often precarious crossing from childhood to young adulthood in a healthy manner, especially during these stressful social times.

 Liz’s Master’s degree is in existential and depth psychology which is particularly useful in helping adolescents to explore their developmental issues of identity and meaning. Postgraduate studies in psychoanalytic theory provide a strong developmental perspective that Liz weaves into her work with the teen and her parents.

Over the last ten years Liz has enjoyed a national reputation as an educational consultant, assisting parents in finding the best fit school or program for their child. As a consultant, she has traveled nationwide evaluating therapeutic and traditional boarding schools. As a consultant she had worked with many of the staff at Greenbrier and had been impressed with their dedication and professionalism.

Liz has a passionate interest in horses and equine therapy. She has experienced the healing effect horses have on humans in overcoming fears, building self-confidence, and understanding the mutuality in relationship. She has studied the diverse methods of equine therapy and has defined her preferred relationship model. Liz also enjoys all aspects of nature and looks forward to riding, hiking, biking and canoeing.
