Elizabeth (Liz) Lucarelli, NCC, M.S. - Community Counseling
Provisionally Licensed Counselor

Elizabeth’s understanding and commitment to the positive development of young women was nurtured while attending Onaway, a unique seven-week camp program for girls located in northern New Hampshire. For one hundred continual years, Onaway has provided girls with diverse backgrounds from both the United States and various countries the time, space and guidance, in a wilderness setting, to develop their physical and spiritual strengths to meet the challenges of the changing world. Through her seventeen year involvement at Onaway, she discovered that an all-female setting enabled young women to develop supportive relationships, built the confidence to overcome adversity whether it was family or socially related, and to increase self-efficacy. This has culminated in Elizabeth’s directing Onaway’s four-week advanced summer Wilderness Leadership program for adolescent females for the last four years.

Elizabeth’s love for the wilderness was the driving force to attend Brevard College in North Carolina where she earned a B.A. in Experiential Education and Wilderness Leadership.

As a result of working at Second Nature, Blue Ridge, N.C., Elizabeth realized firsthand the value of a wilderness experience as a powerful therapeutic tool to encourage insight and personal growth. She also learned the value of family involvement after leading Transition, a shared wilderness experience for parents and students transitioning to boarding schools.
