Welcome

Greenbrier Academy is the culmination of my learning and experience. The early 1980’s were essentially the pioneering years for new and more effective ways to help struggling adolescents. I am grateful to have been a small contributor in those exciting times when new venues, philosophies and methodologies were introduced to the public. I appreciate the bright and dedicated people who taught and shared their lives with me and our students. I especially appreciate the over 8,000 adolescent graduates of programs I co-founded and directed. These “students” have been uniquely demanding post graduate professors for me.

The culture and structure of Greenbrier synthesizes method and philosophy into what is called strong relationality. Relationship for us is more than an instrument to accomplish fundamental therapeutic goals. Quality, sound relationships are the ultimate therapeutic goal and the dynamics of relationships are the most powerful instruments. As this is applicable to all areas of life, it is a dual focus at Greenbrier Academy in academic excellence and therapeutic discovery.

This means at Greenbrier that everything is related to creating quality intrapersonal, interpersonal, and community relationships. This central objective includes using working with horses, in addition to the many human contexts of the Greenbrier experience. All of these innovative approaches are overseen by our program directors and skilled therapists.
